So far this week has been incredible!!! I am so excited about Sweden!! Here are my best efforts at shortish recaps:
Monday: Totally had a date with a swede named Jonas. We met on Saturday night. We went out on Monday night. He picked me up from my place and, omg one of the best decisions I have even made! He is like 7' tall, super cute and really fun. We went to Sky Bar downtown for a drink (a bar on top a a hotel overlooking the city). It was so much fun and I am very excited to see him again. (of course I will play it much more cool when he sends me an SMS)
Tuesday: Had an awesome morning of "class." We didn't have any formal class with teachers, but instead were given a route to walk in our new study area. A group of us did this walk from 9am-14:00. It was so fun to be able to get to know some more classmates better - I am definitely super lucky with the group of people I get to work with for the next two years!
Tonight I had dinner plans with Fredrik. I was put in touch with Fredrik through some customers at my summer job (Noble). Before I came to Sweden, he and I were e-mailing back and forth - mostly with my questions about Stockholm. We went to dinner at a place called Fapianos...I am pretty sure - anyways the food was awesome! I finally had a proper meal! Ravioli stuffed with pesto/cheese and some delicious sauce and a piece of chocolate cake! It was a really great time, we talked about Sweden, traveling, running...really a bit of everything. Fredrik has actually ran the Stockholm marathon a few times and is going to show me some of the better running trails near my house and help me find a running club. And he also cross-country skis and has done the Vasaloppet! I am signing up for next year for sure....I am super excited! (maybe I should have just titled this post 'super excited')
Upcoming events:
Wednesday: I am going to have lunch with Marco again and we are going to finalize our trip plans to Tallinn...pretty much a booze cruise with a day of travel - it should be super fun, we already have 15+ people going.
A group of my classmates and I are going to sign up for Swedish for Immigrants - a free Swedish language course. Isn't it weird that I am an immigrant...?
Thursday: I am joining a group called the American Women's Association - a group of American Women who have emigrated to Sweden. Thursday there is a newcomers wine and cheese party. I am excited to meet more people and hopefully network a bit.
Friday: Perhaps going to a concert tonight...The Morning Benders!
Saturday: Perhaps going out dancing with a few girls from my class! I need a pair of heals!!
Next week: TALLINN!!!!
In a nutshell (maybe I should have put this at the beginning...) I am so loving life right now!!!
