Day 28: Sunday July 19, 2009

Woke up early today to head to the Beach...still not swimming weather. We checked out of the hotel at 11, left our bags and split up until we were set to leave at 1:30. Christian and I went to Annie's Cucina (or something like that) for lunch and then headed to Frog Rock Marina. It was hot and we were uncomfortable from our sunburns, but it was an awesome place. There was a youth center that was doing the "leap of faith" where you climb up a pole and jump off the top....

Then hiked around frog rock, which was just a big rock. We saw a lot of lizards. We were able to climb on some rocks near the ocean that would normally be underwater during high tide - we saw a lot of small fish that were stuck in shallows until the water level rose. It was a neat place. Then we went and got ice cream...I got "Obama Brownie" and CKE got "California Creamy Cookie."

After we got back to Hsinchu via the high speed rail, our friend Alvin picked us up to go out to dinner with him and his parents. We went to an awesome restaurant and actually had some good taiwanese food! They ordered some of everything - pork, chicken, beef, fish, lamb, duck, pork/clam soup, rice, vegetables, bamboo salad (that has sweet sauce and b-day sprinkles on it...) black tea, and beer. It was delicious and I am sure expensive, but they offered to pay. Then we all went to the night market. And then Alvin's mom bought us some dessert from aa bakery to bring back to our apt. It was good, just a pastry type thing with whip cream in the middle.
