Woke up and got ready to leave Hong Kong. CKE and I had left over bakery good for breakfast. We took the MTR all the way to the airport this time which was way more expensive than the bus - around HK$75...oh well, it was convenient.
Got to the airport and had to get checked like 3 times (boarding pass, security, and customs). It took forever, especially for CKE. On the plane, Geoff and Danika got upgraded tickets and headed to the top of our double decker plane - jealous.... It was a quick 1 hour flight to Taiwan where we met our driver again and headed to Hsinchu.
We got to our apartment and met with Alex and Luke. The apartments are small, with hand-held shower heads again, but have AC and will get us through the next few weeks alright. We have to get our drinking water out of a machine on the street - hard to explain, but neat.
Alex and Luke gave us an intro to the campus and to the classes we will be teaching which we a little overwhelming and scary. We are not teaching in pairs like we thought we were and the students are a lot younger than we were planning on. The program is actually a summer camp, so we have 13 to 20ish year olds. We only talk to the MBA students for one-on-one convos that supplement our class schedule. After a tour of campus they showed us a few places near by that we can get lunch - there isn't much, just a 7-11 and a few small restaurants.
After, we went to a big store, in Hsinchu, called Carreforr (or something close to that) to get some groceries and things for our apartment like pillows and blankets. The blankets are so small they won't even cover our feet and shoulders at the same time. For food we bought PB&J, Oreos, Cheetos, Apples, Bread, and saltines.
Then we went our to dinner with Alex and Luke to 'Hope Noodles.' It was okay, we had fried rice, vegetable and pork pot stickers, beef soup, a mystery vegetable, and a plate with tofu, fatty beef and other mystery things. Luke drove us back to our apartment and we got settled and ready for our first day of teaching.
